A New Chapter in Community Sport
Following the remarkable growth and success of Heavy Hitters Boxing Club, Philip Williams has embarked on a bold new venture: the establishment of Monmouthshire Sporting Club—a non-profit promotional organisation driven by a passion for grassroots sport and the power of community. With the invaluable support of his wife, Claire, and collaborator John Howells, this new initiative aims to offer amateur athletes the platform they deserve to shine.

Long term impact
Currently operating under a transparent open-book policy while working toward full charity status, Monmouthshire Sporting Club is committed to integrity, accessibility, and long-term impact. Its primary focus is assisting amateur boxing clubs in hosting high-quality, professionally run events under the esteemed sanctioning body, The Professional Boxing Association (PBA). Widely respected for its rigorous standards, ethical governance, and steadfast commitment to fighter safety and opportunity, the PBA provides the backbone for every event the club promotes.
Monmouthshire Sporting Club recognises that hosting structured, well-supported events is vital not just for athlete development, but also for the sustainability of local clubs. By handling the logistical and promotional elements, the organisation allows coaches and athletes to focus fully on performance and growth.

It's a movement
While boxing remains its current cornerstone, the vision for Monmouthshire Sporting Club is much broader. Plans are already underway to expand into other sporting disciplines—bringing the same level of care, professionalism, and community focus to a wider athletic audience across Monmouthshire and beyond.
This is more than a promotional body—it’s a movement. One that seeks to uplift amateur sport, champion grassroots talent, and create lasting opportunities through passion, integrity, and collaboration.
